General Info

If you’re heading toward Meise and craving a relaxed yet stylish dining experience, Auberge Napoleon at Bouchoutlaan 1 is one of those places that feels both welcoming and refined at the same time. From the moment you arrive, there’s a sense that this isn’t just another restaurant-it’s a spot where locals gather for good food, casual conversations, and memorable meals.

The menu strikes a nice balance between classic flavors and comforting portions. One of the standout dishes here is the Côte À L’os, which arrives perfectly cooked and full of rich, savory depth. It’s the kind of dish that instantly makes you slow down and enjoy every bite. On the other hand, if you’re in the mood for something lighter yet equally indulgent, the Coquilles offer a delicate seafood experience that feels both fresh and satisfying.

What really adds to the charm of Auberge Napoleon is how effortlessly it blends different dining moments. Whether you’re stopping by for a relaxed lunch or settling in for a longer evening with drinks, the atmosphere adapts easily. The availability of alcohol complements the menu well, making it easy to pair your meal with something that enhances the flavors without overpowering them.

The setting itself leans toward a trendy vibe without trying too hard. It feels current but not intimidating, which makes it a comfortable choice whether you’re dining solo, with friends, or even bringing your dog along-yes, dogs are allowed, which adds an extra layer of friendliness to the place. That small detail says a lot about the overall attitude here: open, easygoing, and genuinely welcoming.

Dessert is definitely worth saving room for. After enjoying the main courses, finishing with something sweet rounds out the experience nicely and leaves a lasting impression. It’s clear that the kitchen pays attention to the full journey, not just the highlights.

From reviews and personal impressions, Auberge Napoleon stands out as a location where consistency meets personality. The service feels attentive without being overbearing, and the flow of the meal feels natural from start to finish. It’s the kind of place you don’t just visit once-you keep coming back because it reliably delivers a satisfying experience every time.

What customers say?

“ Great restaurant in Meise, very close to Brussels. Rarely had better service. Personnel is very genuine and committed, a great team. The owner even making the Sabaillon himself. Flexibility in the menu, perfect timings, etc. Also the athmospere is relaxed in a mix of modern and classical interior. Food absolutely great and fresh with quality ingredients (delicious 'sand carrots'). Will go back soon. Thanks a lot for the nice evening ”

“ I’m extremely picky when it comes to food and even more so with service—but this place gets everything just right. The service is prompt, efficient, and never intrusive. The flavours, presentation, and portion sizes are all spot on. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance—whether you’re here for business, with family, or on a date, it works beautifully. It’s the kind of place you’ll find any excuse to return to. Quietly perfect, and perfectly quiet. The soft lighting and serene surroundings—just love it all. ”

“ We just arrived back from this establishment, and my wife and I were extremely impressed! Food was gastronomic, yet refined. Service quality was the best I have ever experienced in Belgium (and I have lived here for many years so far); staff were smiling, courteous, looked genuinely happy to be there. They baked extra bread for us upon request. They even brought out a sparkler with my wife's dessert, as I had told them that it was our anniversary! Highly recommended for an elegant, quiet evening. Dress code: smart. The clientele and staff are all very well dressed as well. ”

“ We found that place following the recommendation of our hosts. We really loved the intimate atmosphere, the friendly staff and the good food. The only thing we regret is, that we didn’t have time left to go there a second time. Thank you for giving us a table even though you were fully booked ”

- Manuela Schikowski -

“ Excellent experience. The food is wonderful, the staff friendly and the setting very elegant. We had a wonderful evening. I'm no food expert, but I believe that with a little effort and a visit from Michelin this restaurant just might start to 'sparkle'. ;) ”

“ Newly refurbed, with taste and simplicity, and as before this restaurant delivers a most pleasant experience. As always, TOP service, GREAT wines and EXCELLENT food. Croquettes de crevettes and Wild mushroom ravioli for starters and the "Rable de Lièvre Arlequin" ( back of hair with two sauces ) for 2 to follow - left no room for dessert but was absolutely exquisite. Een aanrader, fantabulous! Well done Jan Stallaert and team, you excelle. We will be back when we manage to get a table for two! ”

“ This is a fine dining place. The restaurant is very cosy and sparkly. The terrace is gorgeous and offers opportunities for outdoor dining. The staff and chefs are very friendly. ”

“ One of the more classy places in the neighborhood and with incredibly high quality of food and service. Not the most relax environment, everything is well organised and little room for errors. Strongly recommended of your looking for a nice upscale business lunch or birthday dinner. ”
